Grade 4 · Unit 5: Using units of measurement
Hot, cold and negative numbers.

In summer, Dhaka can reach 38 °C. In winter, the north can fall to about 6 °C. We measure temperature in degrees Celsius.
Read where the red liquid stops. Work out what each small mark is worth. This shows 32 °C – a hot day.
Water freezes at 0 °C. Colder than that is a negative number: −5 °C. In the Himalayas it can be −20 °C or colder.
Count across zero: −4 to 0 is 4, 0 to 6 is 6. The rise is 10 °C. A number line helps with negative numbers.
