Grade 3 · Unit 1: Number and place value
Facts for 3, 4, 6 and 8.

Drinks come in packs of 4 or 6. Knowing times tables helps you count packs fast. The answer to a multiplication is the product.
× 4 is double × 2. × 8 is double × 4. Also, × 6 is double × 3.
Split an array into two parts you know. 6 × 7 = 3 × 7 + 3 × 7. 21 + 21 = 42.
Multiples of 3 make diagonal patterns. The digits of a multiple of 3 add to 3, 6 or 9: 27 → 2 + 7 = 9. Multiplication is commutative: 3 × 8 = 8 × 3.
