Grade 2 · Unit 5: Using units of measurement
How much does a bottle hold?

A large water bottle often holds 1 litre. Litres measure capacity: how much a container holds. We drink about 1 to 2 litres of water a day.
A measuring jug has a scale. Read the mark level with the top of the water. This jug holds 750 millilitres.
Bigger containers are measured in litres. A bucket can hold 10 litres. A bathtub holds more than 100 litres!
Order containers by how much they hold. A cup holds about ¼ litre. Ten 1-litre bottles fill a 10-litre bucket.
