Equal shares

Share so that everyone gets the same.

Sharing pitha

Mother has 12 pitha for 3 children. She wants to share them fairly. Each child must get an equal share.

Give out one at a time to each child. Keep going until all 12 are gone. Each child gets 4. 12 shared by 3 is 4.

When groups have the same number, they are equal. 10 shared between 2 friends is 5 each. Sharing equally is the start of division.

7 bananas shared between 2 children: 3 each. One banana is left over. Maybe they can cut it in half!
