Directions

Forwards, backwards, turn left, turn right.

Finding the way

To get to school, you follow a route. You go forwards, turn left and turn right. These words give directions.

Moving on a grid

The ladybird wants the leaf. Go forwards 4 squares. Turn left. Go forwards 2 squares.

Quarter turns

A turn changes the way you face. A quarter turn to the right takes you from facing North to facing East. Two quarter turns make a half turn.

Giving clear directions

Good directions are short and clear. Say how many steps and which way to turn. Test them by following them yourself!
