Grade 2 · Unit 1: Going outside
Sunny, rainy, windy or cloudy?

Weather is what it is like outside. It can be sunny, rainy, windy, cloudy or foggy. The weather can change from day to day.
Dark, heavy clouds usually mean rain is coming. Farmers watch the sky to plan their work.
A thermometer measures the temperature. A rain gauge collects rain so we can measure it. A windsock shows which way the wind blows.
Weather scientists use these readings every day to make a forecast.
Bangladesh has six seasons (ritu). Summer is hot. The monsoon brings heavy rain. Winter mornings are cool and foggy.
Fog is a cloud close to the ground. It is made of tiny drops of water.
We dress for the weather. Farmers watch the weather to plant rice. A weather forecast tells us what to expect.
In the monsoon, it can rain for many hours. Roads and fields can fill with water.
