Reflect shapes in mirror lines.

A calm river reflects boats like a mirror. The reflection is the same size, flipped over. The water surface is the mirror line.
Count squares from each corner to the mirror line. Count the same on the other side. Join the points to complete the reflection.
Lines of symmetry can be vertical, horizontal or diagonal. A square has 2 diagonal lines of symmetry. Turn your paper to check diagonal reflections.
Turn tracing paper around the centre. Count how many times the shape fits. This is the order of rotational symmetry.
